共同作業が必要な創作

創作活動にはさまざまなものがあって、いろいろな分類ができますが、こういう分け方も出来ます。

• 一人で完結できるもの
• 共同作業が必要なもの

映画づくりは典型的な「共同作業が必要なもの」です。

個人で作るアニメーションなど、例外もありますが、大抵の場合は撮影の段階で、少なくとも出演者という協力者は必要になります。

 

映画製作者にも２種類あります。

• 出来るだけワンマン体制で活動したい人
• 積極的に共同作業を行いたい人

ワンマン体制で活動したい人の弱点は、何もかも自分一人で作業を進めるため、制作ペースが遅いことです。

全ての作業は「量稽古」によって品質が上がります。

制作ペースが遅いという事は、量稽古が出来ないので、作品の品質がなかなか上がらないのは当然です。

 

映画ような創作物は鑑賞者がいて成立するものなので、「鑑賞に堪えうる品質」にすることが大事なんです。

共同作業によって制作ペースを速めることで「量稽古」が出来るようになります。

 

共同作業を行いたい人の場合、にも問題があります。

例えば「監督」をやりたいと思っても、脚本や俳優がいないとスタートできません。

撮影後の「編集」も、「スマホでもできる」とはいえ、「監督」をやりたい人にとっては、その作業自体はやりたいわけではないことも考えられます。

 

一方で、共同作業を行いたい人の中には、

• あらすじを考えたい人
• あらすじを元に脚本を書きたい人
• カメラマンをやりたい人
• 編集作業をやりたい人

がいます。

それぞれの作業には別々の楽しさがあるからです。

 

そして、いくら楽しいとは言っても、これらの個別の作業だけでは作品は形になりません。

「いつか映画をつくってみたいなあ」

「今の時代個人でも作れるんだよなあ」

と漠然と思ったまま、時間だけが5年、10年と過ぎていませんか？

 

私には後悔がたくさんあります。

「ここを舞台にしたらいい作品が作れそうだなあ」と思っていた場所は取り壊されたり、仲の良かった仲間とも疎遠になったり、相手が亡くなったり。

「あの時、映画を作っておけばよかったなあ」と思っても時間は戻らないんですね。

そう思っている「今」も時間が経つと「あの時」になるんですよ。

 

私自身は元々、かなりワンマン体制での作品作りを好むタイプです。

ワンマン体制ならではの「作品を量産できない」という制約に苦しめられたり、逆にいつも撮影を手伝ってくれた古い仲間に昔の作品を改めて見せたときに「懐かしいなあ！」と喜んでくれたりすることで、「共同作業も良いものだなあ」とつくづく感じます。

オンラインで共同作業の「場」を作る

そこで作ったのは「DIY映画倶楽部」です。

 

DIY映画倶楽部は、共同作業を行うためのサークルです。

「共同作業」の度合いはさまざまです。

• 自分の創作物に対してアドバイスが欲しい
• 自分が苦手な分野の作業を誰かに依頼したい
• 自分が出来る範囲でちょっとだけモノ作りに参加したい

実際の撮影に関しては、近くに住んでいない限りなかな協力は出来ません。

しかし、映画作りのうち７割程度は「撮影以外」の作業です。

その作業は、オンラインを使ってのやり取りで充分事足りるんです。

今の時代、これを利用しない手はありません。

 

DIY映画倶楽部は、小難しい映画談義をする場ではなく、映画作りを話題の中心にして遊ぼう（あわよくばみんなで収益を出そう）という倶楽部です。

「蕎麦打ち愛好会」などと同じような感覚と思っていただいて構いません。

 

入部は、インターネットの環境でやり取りが出来る方に限らせていただきます。

メールアドレスをお送りいただいた後、無料で利用できる、Chatworkにご招待し、その中でやり取りをしています。

グループチャットに抵抗がある場合は、主宰である私と個別にやり取りをしていただいても構いません。

にとっては最適の趣味であることに間違いありません。

🤝 Creative Work That Requires Collaboration

Creative activities come in many forms, but one useful way to categorize them is:

• Projects that can be completed solo
• Projects that require collaboration

Filmmaking is a prime example of the latter. While solo animation projects do exist, most film productions—especially live-action—require at least a cast to get started.

Even among filmmakers, there are two types:

• Those who prefer a one-person production style
• Those who actively seek collaboration

The challenge for solo creators is pace. Doing everything alone slows down production, which limits the amount of practice—or “repetitions”—you can get. And without repetition, it’s hard to improve.

Film is a medium that only comes alive when it’s watched. So it’s crucial to reach a level of quality that’s “watchable.” Collaborating with others speeds up production, allowing for more practice and better results.

🎥 The Challenges of Collaboration—and the Joy

Of course, collaboration has its own hurdles. If you want to direct, you still need a script and actors before you can begin. And while editing can be done on a smartphone, it might not be the part you’re passionate about.

On the flip side, there are people who love specific roles:

• Developing story ideas
• Writing scripts
• Operating the camera
• Editing footage

Each task has its own appeal. But no matter how fun these roles are, none of them alone can complete a film.

Have you ever thought:

“I’d love to make a movie someday.”
“These days, even individuals can make films.”

And then five or ten years pass without starting?

I’ve had my share of regrets. Places I thought would make great filming locations were demolished. Friends I wanted to collaborate with drifted away—or passed away. Time doesn’t rewind. The “someday” you’re imagining right now will eventually become “back then.”

🧑‍💻 My Journey from Solo to Collaborative Creation

Personally, I’ve always leaned toward solo filmmaking. But I’ve struggled with the limitations—especially the inability to produce work in volume. At the same time, when I showed old projects to friends who helped me film years ago, their nostalgic joy reminded me how rewarding collaboration can be.

That’s why I created a space for it: the DIY Film Club.

🌐 What Is the DIY Film Club?

The DIY Film Club is a community for collaborative filmmaking. The level of involvement is flexible:

• You might want feedback on your own project
• You might need help with a task you’re not good at
• You might just want to contribute a little to someone else’s project

Actual filming is hard to coordinate unless you live nearby. But roughly 70% of filmmaking happens outside of shooting—planning, writing, editing, sound design—and those can all be done online.

In today’s world, there’s no reason not to take advantage of that.

The DIY Film Club isn’t a place for academic film debates. It’s a space to have fun making films together—and ideally, to earn a little income from it too. Think of it like a “soba noodle club,” but for filmmaking.
